Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) that would prohibit the Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies from denying their watchdogs access to documents they need to root out fraud, waste and abuse passed the Senate Thursday. The amendments are consistent with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley's Inspector General Empowerment Act, which reverses an Obama Administration opinion that prevents government watchdogs from accessing all agency records in the course of their oversight work.
